Lawyer Shinpyeong Shows 'Affection' Over the Release of Yongsangu Mayor Park Heeyoung

Attorney Shin Pyeong left a heartfelt message on Facebook around 6 PM on the 7th regarding the bail release of Park Hee-young, Yongsan District Mayor

Attorney Shin said, "It is difficult to say positively when reviewing all aspects of the case whether the district mayor in charge of the location where the accident occurred can be held legally responsible for professional negligence resulting in death."

"I just spoke with Park Hee-young, Yongsan District Mayor (photo), who was recently released on bail. Hearing his clear and pure voice made me very happy. I prayed for him every dawn."

This is a Facebook post Attorney Shin Pyeong uploaded shortly after 6 PM on the 7th.

The post shows how deeply Attorney Shin feels about Mayor Park.

Attorney Shin said, "When I think of the 158 young people who lost their lives in this incident, my heart feels choked. However, when reviewing all aspects of the case regarding whether the district mayor responsible for the location of the accident can be held legally liable for professional negligence resulting in death, it is difficult to say positively."

He added that this is not just his personal opinion but a consensus among legal professionals with a certain level of legal knowledge and experience.

Attorney Shin stated, "I am almost certain that at some point during the trial, a verdict of not guilty will be delivered on the charge of professional negligence resulting in death."

This, of course, concerns legal responsibility. Even if he may be exempt from that, Attorney Park Hee-young should live with a lifelong mindset of reverence for the victims and maintain a humble life, he advised.

Attorney Shin graduated from Seoul National University Law School, passed the bar exam, served as a judge, and was the dean of the Law School at Kyungpook National University. He currently practices law in his hometown, Daegu.

He was called a mentor to presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol during the last presidential election and is an influencer who posts sharp commentary on political and social issues in Korea, with 9,933 Facebook followers.
