"The Democratic Party Faces Numerous Struggles Against the Ruling Party"
Former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won urged, regarding Lee Rae-gyeong, Honorary Chairman of Other Hundred Years, who was appointed as the Innovation Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea but voluntarily resigned, "At a time when political oppression against the Democratic Party is piling up layer by layer, who would applaud if mistakes are made, even if not done well?" He called on, "Representative Lee Jae-myung should apologize and cut ties."
On the 7th, former Director Park said on Facebook, "The situation inside and outside the party is only leading the Democratic Party to ruin," and added, "It was a good decision for Representative Lee to immediately accept (Lee's) resignation, and Mr. Lee Rae-gyeong also made a wise decision."
He continued, "Regarding the current situation, I demanded that the representative apologize to the public and party members and also apologize for the criticism of the Cheonan ship captain," and pointed out, "Blaming everything on the representative and excusing the Cheonan ship captain remarks as a muttering is disrespectful to the people and is not a way to support the party and the representative."
Former Director Park stated, "The Yoon administration is ruining the economy through the discharge of Fukushima contaminated water and pro-US-Japan biased diplomacy," and claimed, "The Democratic Party should seek contact with China and Russia from the perspective of economic national interest diplomacy, and there are many issues to fight over, such as the dismissal of the Broadcasting and Communications Commission chairman and new appointments, raids on MBC reporters, separate collection of KBS license fees, the presidential office's refusal to recommend Supreme Court justices, and repression of labor unions and civic groups."
He added, "Democratic Party lawmakers should reflect on the common sense that in the fight against the ruling party for the people, they should shoot the gun forward, not sideways; otherwise, they will fail in the general election and regime change will be out of reach," and said, "In the meantime, penny wise pound foolish is a fatal blow."
Earlier, on the 5th, the Democratic Party appointed Lee Rae-gyeong as the party's Innovation Committee Chair. However, Lee voluntarily expressed his intention to resign amid controversy over a past Facebook post related to the Cheonan ship sinking incident.
