Gyeongbuk Office of Education Conducts Selection Exam for 67 Vocational High School Students to Work Abroad in the US, Germany, and More

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced on the 6th that it conducted the '2023 Vocational High School Global Employment Dispatch Candidate Selection Exam' at Gyeongbuk Mechanical and Metal High School.


Global employment is a program where third-year vocational high school students undergo three months of on-site training overseas and then challenge themselves to find employment abroad. This year, students are scheduled to be dispatched to the United States, Germany, Australia, and Singapore.

This year, a total of 67 students will be selected: 40 from the school project group, 15 from the Office of Education project group with Ajin Industry Co., Ltd., and 12 from Beauty Crea Co., Ltd. and Igaja Hairbis.


The selection exam for the global employment dispatch candidates was conducted in the order of English interviews and smoking tests. Students who pass the in-depth interviews will complete an intensive advanced training program and are planned to be dispatched overseas after October.


An official from the Gyeongbuk Office of Education stated, "Since most students are minors, controls regarding drinking and smoking are enforced, and with the consent of parents and the students themselves, urine tests are conducted to check for smoking."


The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is thoroughly preparing to ensure that students' dreams and challenges are not hindered by planning domestic employment and student support measures in case overseas dispatch becomes difficult due to unexpected national disasters (such as infectious disease outbreaks).


Superintendent Lim Jong-sik of Gyeongbuk Office of Education said, "I am pleased that students have the opportunity to develop global competencies and expand their dreams worldwide," and urged, "Please carefully prepare so that our students can gain diverse experiences and realize their dreams in a broader world for their future."


Since 2010 until last year, the Gyeongbuk Office of Education has facilitated overseas employment for 1,146 vocational high school students through overseas on-site training. The office supports students' airfare and local living expenses from the budget so that they can undergo three months of overseas on-site training.
