HiteJinro Vietnam announced on the 7th that it had delivered a total of 400 million VND (approximately 24 million KRW) in scholarships to local university students in Hanoi on the 5th.

HiteJinro's scholarship program in Vietnam, which began in 2017, has reached its fourth year. HiteJinro stated that following the World Health Organization (WHO)'s lifting of the COVID-19 emergency last month, the scholarship program would continue this year as well. This year's scholarships were awarded to 20 students from Hanoi University of Foreign Studies and Hanoi University, with each receiving 20 million VND.

Since its first export to Vietnam in 1968, HiteJinro officially entered the Vietnamese market by establishing a corporation in Hanoi in 2016, and accelerated local operations by opening a Ho Chi Minh City branch in 2018. Soju sales of HiteJinro in Vietnam have grown at an average annual rate of 15% over six years since 2016. Not only Chamisul and Jinro, but also fruit soju varieties such as Cheongpodo Aiseul, Jadu Aiseul, and Boksunga Aiseul have gained popularity among young Vietnamese consumers, leading HiteJinro to rank first in Vietnam's spirits market sales in 2021. Last year, soju sales increased by 54% compared to the previous year.

Cho Sung-gyun, head of HiteJinro Vietnam Corporation, said, “Korea’s representative soju brand is establishing itself as a leading brand in Vietnam as well,” and added, “We will continue various social contribution activities that can contribute to Vietnamese society in the future.”
