Billionaire Heiress with Net Worth of 780 Billion Won from Netflix Appearance Dies of Stroke

Anna Shay, aged 62

Anna Shei, an Asian billionaire with assets worth hundreds of billions of won and known for appearing on the Netflix reality show "Bling Bling Empire," has suddenly passed away.

On the 6th (local time), the U.S. weekly magazine People reported that Shei died of a stroke. According to the outlet, the family stated, "We are saddened to announce that our beloved mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our sunshine, Anna Shei, has passed away at the early age of 62 due to a stroke."

They added, "Anna taught us how to enjoy life and gave us countless lessons. We will miss her forever and never forget her."

Anna Shei was a "billionaire heiress" born to an American businessman father and a Japanese-Russian noble mother. Her net worth was close to $600 million (approximately 780 billion won).

She gained public recognition by appearing on Netflix's "Bling Bling Empire" in 2021. The program highlights the lives of Asian-American billionaires in the U.S., showcasing their luxury and daily routines.

At the time, the show's host pointed out that much of Shei's inherited wealth came from her father, who was the president of a weapons manufacturing company. However, Shei disputed this claim.

She previously told People, "I asked the host, 'Why do you claim my father is a weapons dealer?' and he replied, 'I don't know either.' He made the claim based on speculation, not facts."

However, People added that Shei's father was indeed the founder of Pacific Architects and Engineers, a company that operated as a U.S. defense contractor in the 1960s.

Although there was some controversy regarding the source of Shei's wealth, her candid portrayal on "Bling Bling Empire" received positive reviews from viewers.

In particular, despite being twice as old as the other cast members, she neither lectured nor showed off, and offered sincere advice to the younger participants.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Shei had a 27-year-old son named Kenny Camp.
