SK Telecom announced on the 7th that it will participate in the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 2023) held at BEXCO in Busan from the 7th to the 9th.
MADEX 2023, now in its 13th year, is an exhibition showcasing the latest ships, submarines, maritime defense systems, and foundational technologies such as communication and security, featuring advanced technologies like communication technology and new materials convergence.
At MADEX 2023, SKT will exhibit its smart wireless network system applied to naval ships and land-based airbases, including ▲TDD-LTE systems ▲dedicated terminals ▲IoT services.
Since 2019, SKT has been collaborating with the Navy to build a TDD-LTE-based smart wireless network system within the 'Smart Battleship' and operates smart terminals, smartwatches, and IoT services to realize the smart battleship.
Through this, the Navy can use the issued smart terminals and watches to communicate in real time and send messages between the command center and soldiers on board during maritime operations.
At this exhibition, SKT plans to demonstrate the smart ship wireless network targeted by the Navy through the display of TDD-LTE systems, dedicated terminals, and IoT services, contributing to the realization of future smart battleships.
The TDD-LTE system applied by SKT to naval ships uses military-exclusive frequencies, providing excellent security and broadband communication coverage essential for various operations.
Jung Chang-kwon, head of SKT's Infrastructure Business, said, "We will continue to strive to contribute to enhancing naval combat capabilities through ongoing technology development and collaboration with the Navy," adding, "We will also steadily pursue expanding our business scope to domestic defense companies and the global market."
