Cooperation with Hanwha Corporation Construction Division
Worth Approximately 100 Billion KRW
LS Cable & System is promoting cooperation with Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division on the largest offshore wind power project in South Korea.
On the 7th, LS Cable & System announced that it has been selected as the preferred bidder to supply submarine cables for the 'Shinan Ui Offshore Wind Power Project' promoted by Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division. This project is a large-scale endeavor to build a 400MW-class offshore wind power complex in the southeastern waters of Uido, Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do. This capacity is more than three times the cumulative offshore wind power installation capacity of 124MW in South Korea as of 2022.
LS Cable & System will supply all submarine cables necessary for the construction of the wind power complex and its connection to the land in the second half of 2025. The contract is expected to be worth around 100 billion KRW. Both companies plan to set the completion target for 2026 and will immediately begin contract negotiations regarding product specifications and other details.
LS Cable & System and Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division plan to strengthen their cooperation in the domestic offshore wind power business starting with this project.
An LS Cable & System official stated, "After foreign companies from China and other countries have dominated the domestic solar power market, they are now targeting the offshore wind power market as well. This cooperation is significant in that a leading offshore wind power company, Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division, and a submarine cable company are working together to protect the domestic industrial ecosystem."
