Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Launches Contest Project to Create Future Mobility Cities

Pre-briefing Session Held on the 8th
Mobility Specialized City Contest from the 12th, Selection by the End of August

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 7th that it will actively promote the 'Mobility Specialized City Competition Project' to create future mobility cities where various mobility means such as autonomous driving and UAM can be realized.

The competition project, being promoted for the first time this year, will accept applications from local governments through an 8-week competition from the 12th of this month to August 4th, followed by document evaluation and presentation evaluation, with selections planned by the end of August.

This competition will be divided into two types according to the stage of city development: one supporting the establishment of urban plans for new cities, and the other supporting mobility innovation projects in existing cities.

The Future Mobility City type will provide up to 700 million KRW in national funding for one new city where urban space can be developed as a hub for advanced mobility from the urban planning stage, supporting the establishment of a master plan and other urban planning costs. The Mobility Innovation Support type plans to provide up to 1 billion KRW per year in national funding for up to two years to two existing cities that introduce and transform with specialized advanced mobility technologies tailored to regional conditions.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to hold a 'Mobility Specialized City Competition Project Pre-briefing Session' on the 8th, which local governments, public institutions, and mobility-related businesses can freely attend.
