Annual Production and Sales of 10,000 Units Starting Next Month
EV6 Charges Up to 80% in 15 Minutes
SK Signet has completed the production system for ultra-fast electric vehicle chargers for the first time in the United States.
On the 5th (local time), SK Signet held a completion ceremony for its electric vehicle charger production plant located in Plano, Texas, the U.S., the company announced on the 7th. SK Signet is an electric vehicle charger manufacturer acquired by SK Inc. in 2021 with an investment of 290 billion KRW. Since 2018, it has been the market leader with over 2,500 ultra-fast chargers (350kW or higher) installed across the U.S.

At the completion ceremony, Adriana Cruz, Director of Economic Development, attended on behalf of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, along with John Muns, Mayor of Plano, and Kim Jung-gu, Charg? d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the U.S., representing both governments. SK Group’s North America External Cooperation Head Vice Chairman Yoo Jung-joon and Seo Young-hoon, Group Head of SK Inc.’s Advanced Materials Investment Center, were also present.
Additionally, over 150 representatives from SK Signet’s major clients including EVgo, Revel, Apple Green Electric, Terrawatt Infrastructure, as well as from the global semiconductor company Texas Instruments, attended the event.
The SK Signet Texas plant (SK Signet Manufacturing Texas, SSMT), which will begin production in July, can manufacture 10,000 units of 400kW chargers annually. The facility also includes testing and material storage spaces, enabling rapid quality testing and early material procurement, which is expected to allow faster delivery of products to customers.
Adriana Cruz, Director of the Texas Economic Development Department, stated, "We appreciate SK Signet’s support for revitalizing the electric vehicle charging infrastructure industry, and Texas will continue to actively support and cooperate as a long-term partner."
Yoo Jung-joon, Vice Chairman and Head of North America External Cooperation at SK Group, said, "SK Signet’s production facility will be the future of manufacturing and transportation industries and will greatly contribute to the expansion of electric vehicle adoption."

Shin Jeong-ho, CEO of SK Signet, emphasized, "With the completion of the U.S. plant, we have established a global production system capable of producing 20,000 units. We will proactively respond to the U.S. electric vehicle charging infrastructure subsidy policies and continue to lead the U.S. market as the number one ultra-fast charger company."
Meanwhile, the event also featured a demonstration of SK Signet’s ultra-fast charger V2 product. First introduced at CES 2023, the V2 can output up to 400kW from a single port. The demonstration involved simultaneously charging a Kia EV6 and a Ford F-150 using the V2. Both electric vehicles were charged at peak outputs of 250kW and 150kW respectively within about 20 seconds, depending on battery capacity. The EV6 completed charging up to 80% in just 14 minutes and 44 seconds, receiving enthusiastic responses on site.
