Brownie Yakgwa Cookie features a chewy chocolate cookie topped with a brownie yakgwa, which was developed in-house rather than using the regular yakgwa sold on the market. The top of the yakgwa is coated with chocolate to add a crispy texture.

Before the product launch, a special live broadcast was held on the PocketCU application (app), where all 1,200 prepared units were sold out within 20 minutes. Currently, Neighbor Tongtong ranks second in the app's real-time search rankings. According to CU, sales of room-temperature dessert products, including yakgwa, increased by 149.8% year-on-year during April and May of this year.

CU will also introduce a refrigerated yakgwa dessert product called ‘Yakgwa Tart.’ This product features a crispy and savory tart topped with chewy yakgwa, characterized by a sweet and addictive flavor created using rice syrup and cinnamon powder. When chilled, the dense texture and sweetness are enhanced.

A BGF Retail official stated, “Yakgwa Cookies are very popular among young customers, with those in their 20s and 30s accounting for more than 70% of total buyers,” adding, “We plan to complete a differentiated dessert lineup this year as well.”
