Realizing the Vision of Haenam as an Educational City in the 8th Elected Term
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, is providing enrollment congratulatory funds to new students who entered elementary school this year.
According to the county on the 6th, this project is the first initiative since the establishment of the Haenam Education Foundation, designed to improve local educational conditions in response to the continuous population decline. The enrollment congratulatory fund will be provided as Haenam Love Gift Certificates worth 300,000 KRW.
The application period is from the 20th to the 30th of this month, and applications can be submitted at the local town or township office of the applicant's address. If the application period is missed, applications can be made directly to the Haenam Education Foundation.
Eligible applicants are students residing in Haenam-gun who have enrolled in an elementary school within the district. The application can be made by the student's legal guardian or the person who is effectively raising the student.
Students who transferred to schools outside the district after enrolling in a local elementary school, as well as those who transferred into a local school after enrolling in a school outside the district, are excluded from the support. This year, a total of 314 students enrolled in elementary schools within Haenam-gun.
In particular, this project has attracted attention as the Haenam Education Foundation has officially launched its first full-scale initiative since its establishment.
The Haenam Education Foundation was officially launched after completing registration and business licensing in February, with the vision of “Haenam, a growing educational city nurtured together with local residents.”
As an education-dedicated support organization involving the public, private, and academic sectors, it plans to promote scholarship programs, educational support for elementary, middle, and high schools, lifelong education, and adult literacy education.
Currently, the office on the first floor of the Haenam Lifelong Learning Center is being remodeled, and a dedicated organizational staff will be established and the office opened by next month.
In addition to the congratulatory fund support project for elementary school entrants, new projects this year include educational policy projects in student and youth safety and new industry fields, as well as parent-child growth program operations.
With the completion of the establishment of the Education Foundation, which has been promoted since the 7th local government administration, and the start of full-scale operation, it is a positive sign for responding to changing educational demands and creating a sustainable educational ecosystem by building a cooperative system with the local community.
County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan said, “With the establishment of the Education Foundation, which has been promoted since the 7th local government administration, we have taken a step closer to the blueprint of Haenam as an educational city,” adding, “Starting with the first project of supporting enrollment congratulatory funds for elementary school students, we plan to expand various educational projects as a central organization responsible for lifelong education from children to the elderly.”
