A member of a Japanese girl group sparked controversy by conducting a bizarre event where she made a male fan drink kitchen detergent.
Recently, videos circulated on social media (SNS) showing members of the Japanese female idol group ‘Plank Stars’ making male fans drink a liquid that appeared to be kitchen detergent during offline events.
In the video, Plank Stars members open the cap of a detergent bottle and make a male fan drink the liquid inside. Although the male fan shook his hand to refuse, the members approached him closely holding a glass filled with the liquid.
Voices from the surroundings shouted “No,” “Dangerous,” and other warnings, but the Plank Stars members ignored them and continued their bizarre behavior.
Eventually, the man who drank the liquid immediately headed to the restroom, and the members burst into laughter.
The man later posted on Twitter, stating, “I spat out the detergent at the sink. My mouth foamed, so I brushed my teeth several times. If I feel sick, I will go to the hospital.”
The scene quickly sparked controversy, and Plank Stars’ agency issued an apology through their official SNS.
However, they did not disclose why the members engaged in such absurd behavior.
Plank Stars is known for their aggressive concert concepts, such as throwing ink or flour on the audience, which has caused multiple controversies. Recently, a video circulated showing a member pulling an audience member onto the stage and stomping on them while singing, shocking many.
In 2021, former member Tanaka Iroha left the group, saying, “The group’s style is dirty and unpleasant. Even otaku-like fans feel uncomfortable. I reached my mental limit and want to take a break.”

The agency has also fueled controversies. In September last year, they caused a stir by announcing plans to debut a member with low photo sales as an adult film actress.
