Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that from this month until October, it will operate a special program at the Songpa Kiwoom Center called ‘Songpa Cultural Journey,’ allowing participants to explore and directly experience the history, nature, and culture of Songpa.

As a special program of the Songpa Kiwoom Center, ‘Songpa Cultural Journey’ was developed with active participation from children aged 6 to 12 using the center, who discovered and planned the program themes utilizing local resources through the Children’s Autonomous Council, from planning to execution.

‘Songpa Cultural Journey’ offers various opportunities to experience Songpa’s history, nature, and culture, consisting of ▲walking tour courses and ▲traditional culture experiences where participants can learn ‘Songpa Sandae Nori,’ a proud cultural heritage of Songpa-gu.

First, the walking tour courses are divided into the ‘Hansung Baekje Royal Capital Trail Course’?which allows participants to feel the long history and culture of Hanseong Baekje?with three routes (Course 1: 2.5 km, Pungnap Neighborhood Park to Dongseong Wall; Course 2: 2.5 km, Peace Gate to Baekje House Site Exhibition Hall; Course 3: 2 km, Hanseong Baekje Museum to Bangi-dong Ancient Tombs), and the ‘Seokchon Lake Date Path Course’ (2 km, Seoul Samjeondo Monument to Seokchon-dong Ancient Tombs).

Through walking tours with Songpa-gu cultural tourism guides, it is expected that participants will increase their interest in their living area and cultivate sensitivity in nature.

Additionally, there is a session to learn ‘Songpa Sandae Nori,’ a traditional mask dance passed down uniquely in Seoul and preserved in Songpa-gu for 250 years, designated as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

After the Songpa Cultural Journey, the results of the experiences such as paintings, poems, prose, and photographs will be exhibited, and an activity book will be published.

About 400 children using 18 Songpa Kiwoom Centers are expected to participate in the Songpa Cultural Journey. Since the schedules for experiential activities vary by center, inquiries about participation methods and detailed information can be made by calling the respective local Songpa Kiwoom Center.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “I hope many children will directly experience Songpa-gu’s natural environment and cultural heritage and enjoy diverse cultures,” adding, “We will continue to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment so that children in Songpa-gu can grow up bright and healthy with pride in their community.”
