Seocho-gu Holds Commemorative Event for Month of Patriots and Veterans

Gu District Holds ‘Month of National Defense and Veterans & 73rd Anniversary of the Korean War Ceremony’ on the 15th at Maehun Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall

Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) is operating various commemorative events and veterans education programs to honor and promote the dignity of national veterans who sacrificed and contributed to the country in celebration of the Month of National Defense and Veterans in June.


First, on the 15th at 4:30 PM, the district will invite about 400 veterans residing in Seocho-gu and residents to hold the ‘Month of National Defense and Veterans & 73rd Anniversary of the Korean War Ceremony’ at the Maehun Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall.


The event is an opportunity to express gratitude to veterans and to remind residents of the spirit of patriotism, sponsored by Hyundai Motor Company, Kia, and others.


The ceremony will begin with a classical performance by the Seoripul Youth Arts Group ‘Eumgam Art,’ followed by the Seocho-gu mayor awarding commendations to 16 exemplary members from nine veterans organizations in Seocho-gu, including the Liberation Association and the Disabled Veterans Association.


Additionally, a children’s historical choir composed of 20 elementary school students and a performance by invited singer Namgung Ok-bun are prepared to provide attendees with both inspiration and enjoyment.

On one side of the venue, various experience booths such as ▲tank riding ▲drawing the Taegeukgi ▲trying on uniforms ▲military equipment experience are operated to provide infants and students with an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the Month of National Defense and Veterans.


Alongside these, booths for ▲checking blood pressure and blood sugar ▲learning proper tooth brushing ▲senior and care welfare counseling are also operated.


To commemorate the Month of National Defense and Veterans, the district runs various veterans education programs for veterans’ families in the area. On the 8th, at the Seocho-gu Veterans Hall auditorium, a special lecture titled ‘70th Anniversary of the Armistice: The Korean War and Dedication Seen Through War Casualty Statistics’ will be held with Go Han-bin, a curator from the War Memorial of Korea, providing a new perspective on the Korean War.


Jeon Seong-su, Mayor of Seocho-gu, said, “We pay tribute and gratitude to the noble sacrifices and dedication of the patriots and war heroes who gave their lives to protect the country. We will continue to repay national veterans with diverse veterans policies so that they can live with pride and honor.”
