Hong Dong-gon, Nakdonggang Cheong Director, Commends Efforts of Environmental Conservation Contributors

Hong Dong-gon, Commissioner of the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office, attended the ‘28th Environment Day’ commemorative event held on the 5th at the 100th Anniversary Hall of Gyeongsang National University in Jinju, Gyeongnam, and presented the Minister of Environment’s Commendation to individuals who contributed to environmental conservation.

On the same day, Commissioner Hong explained the Ministry of Environment’s key policy directions at the ‘Voices of Gyeongnam Dialogue for Solving Plastic Pollution,’ held with key officials from related organizations including Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province. He added, “We will strive to lead the reduction of plastic use and the expansion of recycling together with Gyeongsangnam-do.”


‘Environment Day’ was established by the United Nations in 1972, designating June 5 as the commemorative day. South Korea also designated this day as a legal holiday in 1996 and holds an annual ‘Environment Day’ ceremony to raise awareness and empathy about the value of the environment and the importance of its conservation.
