System Inspection and Establishment for Resident Evacuation upon Alarm Issuance

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) recently conducted an inspection of the emergency response system, including on-site evacuation facilities, water supply facilities, evacuation plans by dong, and resident evacuation guidelines upon alarm issuance, in preparation for escalating provocations by North Korean forces such as space launch vehicle launches.

On May 31, to conduct an on-site inspection regarding the alarm text message incident, Mayor Lee Pil-hyung held an emergency countermeasure meeting with related department officials. At the meeting, he emphasized to the staff that “thorough prior prevention and preparation of countermeasures before a disaster occurs is crucial,” urging them to thoroughly inspect the emergency response system.

Accordingly, the district completed inspections of 78 ‘evacuation facilities’ and 64 ‘water supply facilities’ for resident evacuation upon alarm issuance, and plans to continuously promote and inform residents about action guidelines during emergencies.

Since January this year, the district has been making every effort to inspect and establish safety systems, including ▲facility inspections ▲detailed evacuation and water supply plans by dong ▲updating the locations of evacuation facilities and emergency action guidelines within the ‘Safe Stepping Stone (application)’.

Additionally, the district improved the gas mask acquisition rate to 84% to ensure the survival of local civil defense members performing their duties according to plans during chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) situations, achieving the ‘highest gas mask acquisition rate among autonomous districts in Seoul.’ To address anticipated resident confusion and inconvenience, the previously postponed ‘actual evacuation drill’ will be conducted during the ‘Eulji Exercise’ period in August this year, aiming to carry out practical evacuation training to cope with crisis situations.
