Successfully Held the 19th Policy Committee Research Project Presentation Workshop
Seoul Metropolitan Council Policy Committee Strengthens On-site Capabilities with Sokcho Workshop
Kim Yong-ho, Chair of the Policy Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council (People Power Party, Yongsan 1), announced that a workshop was held for the presentation of research by the 19th Policy Committee.
The Seoul Metropolitan Council Policy Committee conducted the workshop at the Sokcho Civil Servants Training Center on the 1st and 2nd of this month.
On this day, a total of 24 participants, including Chair Kim Yong-ho and external experts, attended to intensively review important policy tasks of the Seoul Metropolitan Council and engage in heated discussions.
The Seoul Metropolitan Council Policy Committee is responsible for investigating and analyzing important policy issues of Seoul City, gathering citizens' opinions, and striving for effective policy formulation and decision-making.
In particular, this workshop aimed to provide new ideas and insights through interdisciplinary understanding by experts in each committee field, thereby discovering innovative policy ideas.
First, in the 1st Subcommittee, presentations and discussions were held on three projects: ▲ Committee member Kim Hyuk (Professor of Public Administration, University of Seoul) on "Development Plan toward an Intelligent Government Based on Big Data Analysis," ▲ Committee member Park Myung-ho (Professor of Political Science and Diplomacy, Dongguk University) on "Verification and Alternative Measures for the Perception Gap between the Council and Citizens," and in the 2nd Subcommittee, ▲ Committee member Han Gong-sik (former Deputy Legislative Secretary of the National Assembly) on "The Necessity of System Upgrades Due to Aging of Seoul Subway," ▲ Committee member Oh Chung-hyun on "OECM Measures for Expanding Protected Areas," and ▲ Committee member Lee Gye-su on "Policy Measures to Enhance Teachers' Emotional and Learning Coaching Competencies."
In the 3rd Subcommittee, Committee member Seok Jae-wang (Professor of Security and Disaster Management, Konkuk University) presented research on "Improvement Measures for Discovering and Evaluating Disaster Risk Factors."
Finally, Chair Kim Yong-ho gave a presentation titled "Utilization of Construction Materials for Realizing a Sustainable and Safe City," focusing on plans to create a safer Seoul.
During this workshop, discussions continued on "Plans to Hold Forums for Policy Discovery Linked to Current Administrative Issues," reaffirming the commitment to conduct policy research activities befitting the status of the Policy Research Committee.
Chair Kim Yong-ho expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation of policy committee members in the research presentations and expressed high expectations, stating, "I am confident that these studies will bear fruit as more practical research outcomes in the future," and added, "We will create an opportunity to further strengthen the capabilities of the Policy Committee through various activities."
He also stated, "Together with 30 policy committee members and external experts, we will actively establish effective policy measures by holding large forums on various topics such as revitalizing small business alley markets after overcoming COVID-19, overcoming low birthrate and aging population, and utilizing construction materials to achieve carbon neutrality."
