6 Winners Selected Across 3 Categories, Awards to be Presented at September 'Busan Welfare Month' Ceremony
Busan City is accepting nominations for candidates for the ‘15th Busan Metropolitan City Social Contribution Award’ from the 5th to June 30th to discover and honor individuals with outstanding achievements in social contribution and the development of donation culture, thereby enhancing their pride and widely publicizing their contributions as role models for citizens.
Now in its 15th year, the ‘Busan Metropolitan City Social Contribution Award’ was established under the ‘Busan City Social Contribution Promotion and Support Ordinance’ to strengthen a social atmosphere that respects sharing and to promote the culture of sharing and donations. Since 2009, it has selected and awarded individuals who have made significant contributions to social service activities.
The Social Contribution Award is given to a total of six recipients, two in each of the three categories?Sharing, Serving, and Giving (Grand Prize and Runner-up). ▲The Sharing category targets those who contributed to social service mainly through material resources, ▲the Serving category targets those who contributed mainly through human resources, and ▲the Giving category targets those who contributed through a combination of material and human resources.
Applicants can download the recommendation form by searching for ‘Social Contribution Award’ on the Busan City website’s public notices, fill it out, and submit it by mail (1001 Jungang-daero, Yeonje-gu, Busan) or in person to the Welfare Policy Division of Busan City.
The city plans to select the final awardees through a reasonable and objective process, including document screening by category-specific working committees, on-site visits, and final evaluation by the Social Contribution Committee, based on the nominations received through the public call.
This year’s Social Contribution Awards will be presented at the ‘2023 Busan Welfare Month’ ceremony in September. Awardees will receive benefits such as free use of public parking lots, issuance of social contribution badges (with usage rights), and for companies (businesspersons), preferential treatment in accordance with the ‘Busan Metropolitan City Ordinance on the Treatment of Businesspersons and Promotion of Corporate Activities’ for three years.
A city official stated, “We hope citizens will take great interest and actively recommend candidates to discover and honor those who dedicate themselves to helping neighbors in need around us, thereby respecting social contributors and spreading the culture of sharing.”
