Social Service Group and General Club Union Members Assist with Farm Work in Rural Areas
Suncheon National University (President Lee Byung-woon) Social Service Group announced that it carried out the '2023 Spring Rural Volunteer Activity' for 1 night and 2 days from June 2 to June 3 together with the General Club Union Raon.
Suncheon National University Social Service Group, which helps local farms during the busy farming season through regular annual rural volunteer activities, engaged in assisting fruit farms, improving housing environments for vulnerable groups, and cleaning up farmland environments in the Hwangjeon-myeon and Woldeung-myeon areas of Suncheon City during this spring volunteer activity.
They visited peach farms suffering from labor shortages due to the decline in the young population and worked hard by thinning fruits, weeding, and cleaning neglected greenhouses and farmyards.
President Lee Byung-woon of Suncheon National University said, “I am pleased that current students are taking the lead in rural volunteer activities, communicating with the local community, and leading a culture of service,” adding, “We will continue to contribute to making Suncheon National University and the local community a better place to live through various volunteer activities.”
Meanwhile, the Suncheon National University Social Service Group has been conducting plogging as a representative volunteer activity of the university since 2021, in addition to summer and fall rural volunteer activities and village volunteer activities for vulnerable groups, carrying out environmental protection campaigns not only near the campus but also at the International Garden Expo site.
