According to Yeosu Maritime Police, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Yeosu Port opening and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Korea Coast Guard, the 20th National Yacht Competition hosted by the Korea Coast Guard will take place from the 8th to the 12th at the Soho Yacht Stadium area in Yeosu City to promote a vibrant marine leisure culture.
This National Yacht Competition is co-hosted by the Korea Coast Guard and the Korea Sailing Federation, organized by the Jeonnam Yacht Association and Yeosu City Yacht Association, and supported by Jeollanam-do Province, Yeosu City, and the Yeosu City Sports Council.
This year’s national yacht competition will feature over 400 athletes from 17 cities and provinces nationwide, divided into male and female elementary, middle, and high school divisions, as well as university and general divisions, competing in five events (including single-handed dinghy and windsurfing) with about 160 boats.
On the first day of the competition, June 8, athlete registration and equipment measurement will take place, followed by the opening ceremony on the 9th, and four days of full-scale competition.

Additionally, during the competition period, various attractions and experiences will be offered to tourists and citizens visiting the venue, including coloring safety rule coloring books created by the maritime police officers themselves, trying on maritime police uniforms, and marine safety VR experience classes.
A Yeosu Maritime Police official said, “As this competition is held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Yeosu Port opening and the 70th anniversary of the Korea Coast Guard’s founding, we will do our best to strengthen cooperation with related organizations so that participants can fully demonstrate their abilities and the competition can conclude successfully.”
