SK Hynix "Positive Response to First Portable SSD... Overseas Launch Planned"

Portable SSD 'Beetle X31' Launching in May

SK Hynix's first consumer portable solid-state drive (SSD) new product, 'Beetle X31,' is gaining consumer response in the market. Leveraging domestic feedback, SK Hynix announced plans to launch the new product in overseas markets including the United States, Europe, and Asia, aiming to expand its influence in the portable SSD market.

On the 5th, SK Hynix explained through its newsroom, "After the X31 was unveiled in the domestic market through online retailers such as 11st, the first batch of stock sold out within a day due to its popularity."

The X31 is SK Hynix's first consumer external SSD launched domestically last month. It is a product that enhances performance to meet market demands while adding portability and stylish design elements. It supports an operating speed of 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) along with effective heat dissipation management performance.

SK Hynix introduced the new product focusing on the gradually growing portable SSD market size. The company explained that since fast read/write performance as well as reliability and portability are important, they focused on meeting related specifications in the design.

The X31 can transfer a 1-gigabyte (GB) file in just one second based on its fast read/write speed. It incorporates balance technology that manages heat generated from rapid data transfer while maintaining optimal data storage speed. It can transfer 500GB of data in under 9 minutes at an average speed exceeding 900 megabytes (MB) per second.

The exterior case made of metal aluminum material enhances internal device heat dissipation and durability. The size is 74X46X14.8 mm, fitting comfortably in one hand, and it weighs 53g. The design features a rounded shape with smooth edges inspired by a beetle, reflecting engineering design. This is why the product is named after the English word for beetle. It comes in two capacities: 512GB and 1 terabyte (TB). It can be used with various devices such as PCs, tablets, smartphones, and game consoles.

SK Hynix plans to launch the X31 in regions including the United States, Europe, and Asia this month. Using the 'Beetle' name, the company intends to emphasize the product's most important feature, portability, as it introduces the product to overseas markets. Park Chan-dong, Vice President of SK Hynix (in charge of NAND marketing), said, “Starting with the X31, we will lead the portable SSD market trend not only domestically but also in overseas markets.”
