Lee Jae-myung: "Irae-gyeong Appointed as Head of Innovation Agency... Will Entrust Fully"

"Respecting the Innovation Plan Prepared by the Innovation Organization
Will Fully Accept It"

The Democratic Party of Korea has appointed Lee Rae-kyung, founder and honorary chairman of the nonprofit organization Dareunbaegnyeon, as the chairperson of the party's Innovation Committee.

On the 5th, Lee Jae-myung, the party leader, announced at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly in the morning, "Today, the Democratic Party has decided to invite Lee Rae-kyung, honorary chairman of Dareunbaegnyeon, to lead the party's innovation body."


Regarding the Innovation Committee, Lee said, "The name and role will be entirely entrusted to the innovation body," and added, "The leadership will respect and fully accept the innovation plans prepared by the innovation body."


Chairman Lee Rae-kyung graduated from the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at Seoul National University College of Engineering (class of '73) and served as a founding member and the first standing committee member of the People's Youth Coalition in 1983.


He has also served as CEO of Hoyt Korea, a wholesale company for transportation equipment such as railways. In 2002, he served as a director and operations committee chairman of the Korean Peninsula Foundation. In 2007, he established the welfare social corporation Ilchon Community, and in 2016, the private discourse corporation (think tank) Dareunbaegnyeon. He currently holds honorary chairman positions in these organizations. From 2007, he served as co-representative of the Welfare State Society nonprofit for eight years and has been the standing co-representative of the National Sovereign Assembly since 2017.


The Democratic Party described Chairman Lee as "an entrepreneur who has participated in civil society activities such as sponsorships, and after retirement, has been active as a civic activist."
