Installation of Eco-friendly Automatic Insect Repellent Dispensers at 3 Hiking Trails and 2 Areas around Jungnangcheon Stream
Preventing Access of Hygienic Pests such as Mosquitoes and Ticks to Prevent Infectious Diseases
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has installed eco-friendly automatic insect repellent dispensers at the entrances of walking trails and areas around Jungnangcheon Stream to ensure that residents can enjoy comfortable and safe outdoor activities ahead of the summer season.
The eco-friendly automatic insect repellent dispensers use a solar charging system that requires no additional power consumption, and the effect lasts up to 4 hours per single spray.
The district stated that the dispensers were installed to prevent the approach of hygienic pests such as mosquitoes and ticks, thereby preventing infectious diseases that can occur during outdoor activities, including dengue fever, tsutsugamushi disease, and severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome.
The dispensers have been installed at a total of five locations: three walking trails in Bongsudae Park, Sagajeong Park, and Yongma Waterfall Park, as well as Jungnang Rose Park and Myeonmok Sports Park located around Jungnangcheon Stream.
Anyone can easily use the dispenser by pressing the red button on the installed machine and then gripping the side handle button, which sprays for 10 seconds. When using, be careful not to spray directly on the face; instead, lightly spray on the skin or clothes of the arms and legs from about 20 cm away.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We installed the automatic insect repellent dispensers to prevent diseases that can be contracted from pests during the summer, so that residents can enjoy more comfortable and enjoyable outdoor activities. We also ask residents to follow preventive measures such as showering or bathing immediately after outdoor activities and washing worn clothes right away.”
