When Asked About Powder Use, "Borax to Repel Ants"

A man who visited a police precinct to find lost methamphetamine while under the influence of drugs was apprehended.

The Gwangju Northern Police Station announced on the 4th that they had sent Mr. A, a man in his 40s, to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Mr. A is suspected of having used methamphetamine twice at a motel in downtown Gwangju on the 29th of last month.

On the day of the incident, Mr. A, while intoxicated, went to a nearby police precinct and said, "I am looking for a lost white envelope." The precinct was holding Mr. A’s belongings, which a passerby had brought in as lost items. Inside the envelope in question was the methamphetamine Mr. A had lost when leaving the motel.

The police, suspicious of Mr. A’s incoherent behavior and the white powder wrapped in multiple layers of tissue, questioned him and obtained a confession of drug use. A subsequent rapid test also showed a positive result. When asked about the powder’s purpose, Mr. A initially claimed it was "boric acid to repel ants."

Investigations revealed that Mr. A had purchased 0.5g of methamphetamine last month in Suncheon, Jeonnam, using the so-called "throwing method," where drugs are left at a designated location. The police are conducting further investigations into the circumstances of the purchase and the source of the drugs.
