Ulleung-gun Practicing Rice Farming, Children Also Experience Rice Planting

On the 3rd, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, held a Children's Farmer School for about 20 elementary school students at the Taehari rice farming restoration site in Seomyeon.

This event recruited participating children through prior applications targeting 5th and 6th graders in local elementary schools. It was implemented to cultivate creativity and character through agriculture-themed activities and to maximize educational effects by fostering a proper value system regarding agriculture and rural areas.

As part of the Ulleungdo rice farming restoration experimental research project, this rice planting event provided an opportunity for parents and children to experience together and pass down traditional agricultural culture to children.

Choi Rokyung, a child participant, said, "I was curious about how the rice we eat every day is made, and I feel grateful for the farmers' efforts."

Nam Hangwon, the county governor, stated, "I am pleased to introduce the way our ancestors lived to the children, the future of Ulleung, and I will strive to ensure this is remembered by future generations."
