Announcement of Final Results for May Donghaeng Festival

As a result of conducting the government-led domestic demand promotion event 'Donghaeng Festival' for a month, sales of approximately 1.2 trillion KRW were achieved, including 622 billion KRW sold through online and offline channels.

On the 4th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced the final results of the May Donghaeng Festival, recording direct and indirect sales of 803.9 billion KRW, including 622 billion KRW through online and offline channels and 181.9 billion KRW in Onnuri gift certificates.

Additionally, separately linked to the Donghaeng Festival, local love gift certificates worth 389.5 billion KRW were sold, resulting in total sales of 1.1934 trillion KRW.

The Donghaeng Festival was held for 28 days starting May 1, and to support the local economy, the opening ceremony was held in Daejeon for the first time instead of Seoul.

About 250 distribution channels, 1,812 traditional markets and shopping districts, and 1,346 Baeknyeon Gaegae (century-old stores) participated in the Donghaeng Festival, which was also linked with 30 regional festivals and promotional events.

Lee Young, Minister of SMEs and Startups, said, "We set a sales target of 3 trillion KRW for the Donghaeng Festival held three times in spring, autumn, and winter, and the first start is going smoothly. I deeply thank all citizens who participated in revitalizing domestic demand through value consumption at this event, the first since the endemic."

He added, "We will strive to make the upcoming Donghaeng Festival in September meaningful by collaborating with various sales and promotional events hosted by public institutions, local governments, and large corporations, so that it can support small and medium enterprises, small business owners, and market merchants."
