"No Commonality Except Being Women"

Professor Lee Su-jeong from the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University analyzed Jeong Yu-jeong, who murdered a peer woman she met through a tutoring brokerage app and mutilated and abandoned the body, as having a "strong antisocial tendency."

On the 3rd, Professor Lee appeared on YTN's 'News Wide' and said, "If Ko Yu-jeong (who killed her husband at a pension in Jeju Island in 2019) is a social animal who is obsessed with her family, Jeong Yu-jeong, on the other hand, has an antisocial tendency with no such desires and possesses different characteristics."

She also explained, "Ko Yu-jeong committed murder from the perspective of revenge against someone close, but Jeong Yu-jeong chose and approached a stranger," adding, "Ko Yu-jeong's case was a very meticulous murder, but the current Jeong Yu-jeong case only aimed to commit the murder," and pointed out, "judging by the way the body was abandoned, it was truly a ridiculous act."

Jeong Yu-jeong planned the crime using information obtained from crime investigation programs and internet searches. After the murder, she purchased detergent and plastic bags at a mart and returned home. She exposed her movements by packing items necessary for abandoning the body, such as a travel bag. She also had many mistakes, such as getting into a taxi carrying a bloodstained bag.

For these reasons, experts analyzed that Jeong Yu-jeong's tendencies are far from those of a psychopath. They also said, "Other than the fact that they are women, there are not as many commonalities between these two cases as one might think."

Earlier, on the 1st, Professor Lee had pointed out in an interview with MBC that the victim woman was a popular English tutor from a prestigious university, analyzing that Jeong Yu-jeong "seemed to try to steal this woman's identity to overcome her own handicap."

According to the police, Jeong Yu-jeong, born in 1999, lived with her grandfather without interacting with the outside world for about five years after graduating from high school. Experts analyzed that the environment in which Jeong Yu-jeong lived as a "reclusive loner" isolated from people for a long time may have led to the murder.
