Eunpyeong-gu to Host ‘International Forum on Education for Sustainable Development’ Inviting UNESCO Learning Cities on the 9th

Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will host the ‘International Forum on Education for Sustainable Development’ on the 9th, inviting UNESCO Global Learning Cities from around the world.
The UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) was established by UNESCO in 2015 to promote lifelong learning among international cities. Currently, 294 cities from 76 countries worldwide, including Eunpyeong-gu in Korea, are members of the GNLC, sharing knowledge and best practices in lifelong learning.
The international forum held in Eunpyeong will take place at 2 p.m. on the 9th in Eunpyeong Hall on the 5th floor of the Eunpyeong-gu Office. Six UNESCO learning cities from five countries?France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, and Korea?leading in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will participate.
The forum’s theme is ‘DON’T EAT OUR FUTURE: The Path to Saving the Blue Planet Starts in Eunpyeong!’ It aims to share ESD cases from around the world and explore ways to achieve sustainable development and a wholesome future through lifelong education.
The forum will be moderated by Ra?l Vald?s Cotera, Acting Deputy Director of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), and Professor Shin Min-seon from Seoul Women’s University. The opening lecture will be delivered by Ban Ki-moon, the 8th UN Secretary-General, and David Achoarena, former Director of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.
Following this, seven representatives from UNESCO Global Learning Cities will present outstanding cases from their countries. Cities such as ?vry-Courcouronnes in France, Hamburg in Germany, Cork in Ireland, Lucca in Italy, and Tongyeong and Eunpyeong in Korea will review trends and issues in Education for Sustainable Development, establishing directions and visions for the future of learning cities.
The forum is open to anyone interested in lifelong learning. Applications can be made online via the registration link (bit.ly/3O4woBo) or by scanning the QR code on the poster.
