The 30th Mapo Narugut 'Wishing for Mapo Good Luck'

The 30th ‘Mapo Naru Gut Reenactment Event’ Held on the Morning of the 3rd at Hangang Citizens' Park Mangwon Area

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) announced that the 30th ‘Mapo Naru Gut Reenactment Event’ was held on the morning of the 3rd at Hangang Citizens' Park Mangwon area.

Organized by the Mapo Cultural Center (Director Choi Jae-hong), this event marked its 30th anniversary this year, with over 20 shamans including the lead shaman and about 400 residents participating.

The reenactment began with ‘Judang Mulrim,’ which drives away bad energy, and ‘Bujeong Cheongbae,’ which dispels impurities and invites spirits, followed by ‘Yongshin Gut (Boat Gut)’ honoring the Dragon King, and ‘Yukji Gut (Dodang Gut)’ honoring local guardian deities and spirits.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “The reenactment of Mapo Naru Gut, which prays for the peace and prosperity of Mapo, is significant in preserving and inheriting our region’s unique local culture. We will continue to do our best to newly discover and develop the historical and cultural values of Mapo.”
