'Yanghoedong Distribution Center Demolition Police Assault' 4 Members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Released

Arrested for Assaulting Police Attempting to Dismantle Memorial Altar Two Days Ago

Four union members arrested on charges of assaulting police officers at a rally hosted by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) were released on the 2nd.


These union members were caught in the act on the afternoon of the 31st of last month for obstructing police officers and assaulting them (obstruction of official duties) when the police attempted to dismantle the memorial altar for the late Yang Hoe-dong, which had been suddenly set up on the sidewalk in front of the Seoul Finance Center building in Jung-gu, Seoul.

At the scene, three police officers were injured, one of whom showed symptoms of a concussion.


After their arrest, three of them were handed over to Dobong Police Station, and one to Gangseo Police Station, where they were investigated for two days.


The police plan to continue the investigation by further reviewing the collected evidence and other materials.
