Gyeonggi Office of Education Holds Joint Inspection and Meeting on the 2nd to Eradicate Illegal Filming

Officials from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, Gyeonggi Province, and the Northern Gyeonggi Police Agency visited Gyeonggi Buk Science High School on the 2nd to inspect for illegal filming in restrooms, shower rooms, changing rooms, and lounges.

On the 2nd, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held a joint inspection and meeting with Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency to eradicate illegal filming and create safe schools.

Since January this year, the Office of Education has been conducting unannounced inspections for illegal filming at schools in the province using external contractors.

During the joint inspection led by the Office of Education, officials from Gyeonggi Province and the Northern Gyeonggi Police Agency visited Gyeonggi Buk Science High School to inspect restrooms, shower rooms, changing rooms, and lounges.

After the joint inspection, the three organizations held a meeting to discuss ▲ the seriousness of illegal filming in schools ▲ inspection status ▲ victim support measures ▲ preventive education ▲ and cooperation plans among related agencies.

The Office of Education especially decided to share tasks related to illegal filming with the provincial government and police agency and to regularize joint inspections to create a safe school environment.

Gwak Jang-mi, head of the Women’s Safety Project Team at Gyeonggi Province, emphasized, "Prevention is more important than crackdowns for illegal filming," adding, "Continuous awareness-raising campaigns for residents are necessary for this."

Seo Eun-kyung, director of the Life Character Education Division at the Office of Education, stated, "The Office of Education is strengthening schools’ voluntary capabilities through school self-inspections, community campaigns, and preventive training, moving beyond inspections focused solely on detection," and added, "We will actively cooperate with related agencies to eradicate illegal filming in schools and foster a safe school culture."
