Yeosu City Selected as Host for Korea-China-Japan Esports Tournament

December World Expo Venue? First In-Person Event

Expecting Regional Economic Revitalization through Visitor Attraction

The 2023 Korea-China-Japan Esports Tournament will be held at the Yeosu World Expo site this December.


The "Korea-China-Japan Esports Tournament" is the first national esports competition led by the governments of Korea, China, and Japan, planned to promote friendship among the three countries and secure global leadership in the esports industry. The first tournament in 2021 was held in Korea, and the second in China.

Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do has been preparing for on-site evaluations together with Jeollanam-do Province and the Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency to attract this tournament.


In April, an evaluation team composed of officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Esports Association conducted on-site assessments in seven areas including commitment to promotion, securing spectators, and safety, and recently Yeosu City was finally selected as the host city.


The "2023 Korea-China-Japan Esports Tournament" will be the first fully face-to-face event since COVID-19, expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy by attracting domestic and international tourists.


A city official said, "We will successfully host this Korea-China-Japan international esports tournament and create an opportunity to take Yeosu City's esports culture industry to the next level."


Meanwhile, the "2023 Korea-China-Japan Esports Tournament" is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Esports Association, and organized by the Korea Esports Association, Jeollanam-do Province, and Yeosu City.


Prior to this, to expand the esports base and create a boom, the first Yeosu Mayor's Cup esports tournament will be held at Heungguk Gymnasium from July 29 to 30.
