Two individuals in their 30s, including a Thai national, were arrested and prosecuted for smuggling and using drugs.

According to the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office in Gyeongnam on the 2nd, two suspects, including Mr. A, are accused of smuggling "Yaba," a drug mixed with methamphetamine, codeine, and caffeine, packaged like processed food through a Thai drug supplier, and using it at their residences.

The Yaba smuggled by Mr. A from the Thai drug supplier weighed approximately 5 kg and is estimated to be worth over 1 billion KRW.

Mr. B purchased Yaba worth 14.5 million KRW from another Thai drug supplier in April and used it at his residence.

The Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes stipulates that if the value of imported or exported psychotropic drugs exceeds 50 million KRW, the offender shall be sentenced to life imprisonment or imprisonment for at least 10 years.

A prosecutor stated, "We will thoroughly and persistently investigate foreign drug offenders who smuggle drugs into the country and distribute them domestically, and respond strictly."
