Health center measures body composition, muscle strength, flexibility, cardiopulmonary endurance, and balance
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) is operating the ‘Senior K-Yangsaeng Gymnastics’ program to prevent sarcopenia and falls among residents aged 65 and over.
The program will be held every Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the outdoor space in front of the riverside cafe opposite the artificial waterfall at Hongjecheon from the 9th to the 30th of this month.
Over four sessions, it will include ▲breathing exercises to calm the mind and Korean dance movements ▲Yangsaeng gymnastics set to the folk song (Miryang Arirang) ▲Yangsaeng gymnastics set to the popular song (Red Shoes Lady) ▲and Pumbapgi Taekkyeon.
Prior to this, the Seodaemun-gu Health Center will measure participants’ body composition, muscle strength, flexibility, cardiopulmonary endurance, and balance. The free program will have about 20 participants.
‘K-Yangsaeng Gymnastics’ is a health exercise program modernly reinterpreting the Yangsaeng method of Toegye Yi Hwang, consisting of various movements using martial arts, mask dance, clapping, and more, set to folk or popular songs so that anyone can easily follow along.
