Swedish electric vehicle brand Polestar announced on the 2nd that it will carry out an over-the-air (OTA) software update including new features and improvements to the Range Assistant and Apple CarPlay.
This update is the 15th OTA software update since the first one for the 2020 Polestar 2.
The Range Assistant app includes new features and improvements such as displaying instantaneous energy consumption based on real-time feedback of driver behavior using a new algorithm, and showing energy consumption graphs for recent 20, 40, and 100 km driving sections.
The Apple CarPlay update displays navigation via Apple Maps on the instrument cluster. It offers expanded features including playback/pause and next/previous buttons on the home screen, media information display on the home screen, and call information control via steering wheel buttons.
This update is the 8th OTA since the Polestar 2 was launched domestically. So far, a total of 38 items have been improved or added. In the second half of this year, updates such as the opening of the app store, OTT platforms, internet browser, and In Car Payment functions are planned.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, said, “We know well how much our customers look forward to OTA updates, and we are confident this update will be well received with new features and improvements.” He added, “The improved Range Assistant supports efficient driving with more accurate information, and the key element of the Apple CarPlay update is displaying Apple Maps on the instrument cluster, enhancing convenience.”
