"Will Thoroughly Address to Prevent Recurrence"
Public Remains 'Cold' Due to Ongoing Filming Set Issues
The production team of ENA's new drama 'Say I Love You' apologized after controversy arose over litter left behind. However, criticism over such 'nuisance filming' continues unabated.
On the 1st, the production team issued an official statement saying, "We sincerely apologize for causing discomfort and concern to the local residents who cooperated with the filming due to the litter left behind."
On the 31st of last month, an online community posted a claim titled "The level of the 'Say I Love You' drama filming site," alleging that the production team left trash at the filming location. [Photo source=Online community capture]
They added, "The production team recognized shortcomings in the cleanup process after filming ended on the day according to the manual, and rechecked the manual during filming to ensure no litter was left behind. We will take preventive measures in advance and conduct more thorough cleanup to prevent such incidents from recurring."
On the 31st of last month, several photos were posted on an online community under the title 'The level of the filming site of Say I Love You drama.'
The poster pointed out that "If you come to film, you should clean up before leaving. Who else will clean up?" indicating that the area was not cleaned after filming.
In the photos revealed, discarded plastic cups, beverage cans, water bottles, and cigarette butts were seen thrown next to a roadside wall. Papers related to the drama filming were also discarded at the site.
'Nuisance Filming': The Problem Is Not Improvement but Repetition
Meanwhile, controversies related to drama and variety show filming continue without end.
On the 31st, it was revealed that an unauthorized filming set was installed on a shared water surface of an uninhabited island designated as a marine protected area in Incheon. The Ongjin County Office in Incheon identified that the filming team of Netflix's popular variety show 'Solo Hell 3' recently illegally occupied and used Saseungbongdo Island, and plans to issue demolition orders for about 10 temporary structures.
In April, during the Gochang Barley Festival held in a canola flower field, staff filming the drama 'I Was Completely Fooled' blocked tourists who were taking photos and passing through areas far from the filming site, causing inconvenience to ordinary citizens.
On the 15th of last month, a passerby who was taking photos at the request of foreigners near COEX in Seoul reported being verbally abused by staff preparing for the drama 'Lee Jae, Soon to Die.'
Additionally, in Changsin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, the filming location of the drama 'Diva of the Uninhabited Island,' a female staff member was injured by a brick thrown during filming. The suspect, Mr. A, reportedly told the police that he acted because he could not sleep due to the light and noise generated during filming.
Such so-called 'nuisance filming' controversies?caused by unauthorized filming site occupation, coercive control by filming staff, noise, and other disturbances harming nearby residents?have repeatedly sparked public resentment. Some point out that these incidents have occurred for a long time, and although production teams have apologized each time, the issues have not improved and similar incidents keep recurring.
