At the construction site of Gwangju Urban Railway Line 2, a water pipe burst, causing inconvenience to citizens.

At around 7:06 PM on the 1st, a report of a damaged water pipe was received by 119 at the construction site near Geumho-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, where Urban Railway Line 2 is being built.

At the accident site, a massive amount of water gushed into the air like a fountain as the water pipe burst, flooding the road and nearby shops. As a result, some of the surrounding stores suffered water damage, and severe traffic congestion occurred on the nearby roads.

The water flow was controlled within about 40 minutes at the accident site, and restoration work is currently underway. The Waterworks Headquarters is investigating the cause of the accident, reporting that the leakage occurred due to damage to the joint part of the water pipe.
