The second race of the ‘Triple Tiara’ series, which selects the best domestic 3-year-old filly, will be held.
Korea Racing Authority Busan-Gyeongnam will host the second race of the ‘Triple Tiara’ series, the ‘Korean Oaks,’ on the 4th at 4:10 PM as the 6th race at LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam.
The race name Oaks refers to the English word for oak tree. The race originated from the 18th century when the British nobleman ‘Derby,’ who owned land with an oak forest, held a 3-year-old filly race to commemorate his wedding.
In the UK, it is considered one of the five major horse racing events, and Oaks competitions are held in several countries including Japan and Australia.
In Korea, the ‘Korean Oaks’ was established in 2000 as a 3-year-old filly race. With the introduction of the Lunas Stakes Grade 1 race in 2020 and the establishment of the filly Triple Crown system, it has become the second gateway race in the ‘Triple Tiara’ series.
The first race of the ‘Triple Tiara,’ the ‘Lunas Stakes,’ held last April, saw the favorite ‘Jeulgeoun Yeojeong’ win without any upsets, gaining an early advantage.
Notable contenders for victory in this Oaks race include ‘Jeulgeoun Yeojeong,’ who placed first in the previous race, as well as ‘Doctor Oscar,’ ‘Magic Class,’ ‘Raon Forest,’ and ‘Raon The Quality.’
