In an era that has lost cinema, 'Geomi Jip' reminds us of its significance.
Actor Song Kang-ho transformed into a film director in the overseas trailer of the movie 'Geomi Jip,' released on the 1st by distributor Barunson E&A. The film was screened in the non-competitive section at the 76th Cannes Film Festival last month, receiving over ten minutes of applause and cheers, earning high praise.
'Geomi Jip' depicts the story of Director Kim, who believes that the film 'Geomi Jip,' shot in the 1970s, will become a masterpiece if only the ending is reshot. Amid harsh conditions on the brink of madness?including censorship and actors and producers who do not understand the changed content?he pushes forward with the filming.
In the trailer, Song Kang-ho plays Director Kim, who snaps a rubber band and shouts "Ready" while holding a megaphone. Actors gradually gather for the reshoot of the film 'Geomi Jip,' which began with the director's obsession with creating a masterpiece.
Producer Baek (Jang Young-nam), who opposes by saying, "Is this even possible?" foreshadows the difficulties of the reshoot. Min-ja (Lim Soo-jung) and Mrs. Oh (Park Jung-soo) act according to the changed script, Mido (Jeon Yeo-bin) and Yurim (Jung Soo-jung) engage in power struggles, and Hose (Oh Jung-se) suddenly rushes onto the set. These unpredictable characters raise expectations for the ensemble.
'Geomi Jip' is a new work by director Kim Ji-woon, set against the backdrop of a 1970s film set, and is scheduled to be released this year.
