The Agricultural Technology Center of Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, announced on the 1st that it held a small garden-making experience event in front of the Gochang Culture and Arts Center with about 90 children from local daycare centers.
The county utilized the space around the sculpture in front of the Culture and Arts Center to plant various agricultural products such as cucumbers and eggplants, and arranged pots containing Gochang's specialties like bokbunja (Korean black raspberry) and blueberries.
This event included a horticulture program specialist instructor to teach children about different types of plants and their growth processes.
The activities, such as planting seedlings, watering, and observing plant growth, were conducted at the children's eye level.
At the end, each child enjoyed making their own small garden by writing their name tags in front of the seedlings they planted.
Hyun Haeng-yeol, director of the Gochang-gun Agricultural Technology Center, said, "I am glad that gardening and horticultural activities serve as a source of communication and sharing, providing good memories and experiences," adding, "I hope these small gardens become healing spaces for the residents."
Meanwhile, the county plans to install large pots of agricultural products representing Gochang, such as blueberries, bokbunja, and watermelons, to promote Gochang's excellent agricultural products to tourists.
