"Are You Hiring Modern-Day Slaves?" Deleted After Receiving Malicious Comments

A man in his 50s has sparked controversy by posting an advertisement on a job recruitment site seeking a woman who can marry him, bear children, and take care of his elderly mother in her 80s.

On the 1st, several online communities circulated a job posting that was uploaded on the 30th of the previous month on a recruitment site. The poster, Mr. A, who identified himself as a company CEO in his 50s, posted under the title "Hiring a lifelong employee for an office job based in Wanju, Jeonbuk, working Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM after marrying the company CEO."

Mr. A specified mandatory qualifications including "A single male developer CEO, 58 years old, 168 cm tall, 60 kg, blood type A, who must register marriage on August 8, 2023, at 8 AM and be able to bear children," and "Until the marriage registration, the candidate must live in a provided one-room apartment and take care of my 81-year-old mother."

He listed core competencies such as diligence, teamwork, and ethics, and noted that English proficiency would be preferred.

The posting stated that after a one-month probation period, the candidate would be converted to a full-time position, taking on roles such as head of department and center director. The monthly salary was set between 5 million and 10 million KRW. Although the posting closed on the 31st, the content remained visible on the site. The recruitment site reportedly deleted the post after it sparked controversy.

Netizens who saw the posting reacted with comments such as "Are they recruiting modern-day slaves?", "They are hiring servants," "Just hire a caregiver," and "Disgusting from the morning."

Meanwhile, in March, a man in his 60s drew public outrage by hanging a banner in front of a girls' high school in Daegu that read, "Looking for a woman aged 13 to 20 willing to sacrifice to have children and manage household chores for a rough 60-something grandfather living alone."
