Completion Ceremony of Fuel Cell System Production Plant in Guangdong Province on the 1st
Annual Production Capacity of 6,500 Units for 100kW-Class Systems
Hydrogen fuel cells produced with domestic technology are expected to be installed in hydrogen vehicles manufactured in China.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Hyundai Motor Group will hold a completion ceremony for a fuel cell system production plant in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. This plant can produce up to 6,500 units annually of 100kW fuel cell systems used in the hydrogen electric vehicle 'Nexo.'
The fuel cells produced at the Guangzhou plant will be supplied to local automobile manufacturers for hydrogen vehicle power packs and are planned to be utilized as fuel cell systems for power generation in the future. A ministry official stated, "We expect this to contribute to expanding the hydrogen industry base in China and revitalizing the global hydrogen economy," adding, "Supplying core fuel cell components produced in Korea to the Chinese plant is also expected to increase domestic exports in the hydrogen sector."
Lee Ok-heon, Director of the Hydrogen Economy Policy Division, who attended the completion ceremony, described it as "a meaningful event symbolizing hydrogen economy cooperation between Korean and Chinese companies through Hyundai's fuel cell production plant completion and local supply of fuel cell systems," and said, "We expect companies from both countries with hydrogen technology capabilities to continue leading the global hydrogen economy through cooperative projects."
