Kick-off Meeting Held, Construction and Stabilization by October
Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a kickoff meeting for the ‘Smart Senior Center System Construction Project’ in the large conference room of the county office, officially starting the initiative.
The meeting, held on May 31, was attended by about 20 people including Deputy Governor Ryu Haesik, representatives from Namhae Police Station, Namhae Fire Station, village chiefs, and department officials. Directions were presented for establishing a ‘Smart Senior Center System’ that enables seniors to live safely and conveniently using smart technology.
Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a kickoff meeting for the "Smart Senior Center System Construction Project" in the county office's large conference room.
Last year, Namhae-gun was finally selected for the ‘2023 Smart Village Distribution and Expansion Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency, receiving 1.062 billion KRW in national funding. Additionally, the county invested 266 million KRW to start the project in May, with a construction and stabilization period until October, and plans to launch full services from November.
Once the ‘Smart Senior Center System’ is established, in the event of an emergency or abnormal signs (fire, gas leak) inside the senior center, a ‘two-way smart safety service’ will operate. This service allows the CCTV integrated control center to accurately assess the situation inside the center and the condition of the patient through two-way video communication, and promptly and accurately relay information to related agencies such as 112 and 119.
In addition, seniors will receive various administrative information as well as bus arrival information through an integrated information terminal installed inside the senior center, providing an ‘Integrated Information Service for Senior Centers.’
Furthermore, using a ‘remote video conferencing system,’ various content and customized programs such as non-face-to-face singing classes and yoga will be offered.
The system will also link and utilize live camera footage being recorded at Namhae-gun festival sites, allowing seniors to enjoy the festival scenes in real time within the senior centers.
Deputy Governor Ryu said, “We will enhance the completeness of the project by reviewing and reflecting diverse opinions from related departments and agencies to ensure the senior centers become safe and smart places that seniors can truly feel.”
