Commendation for Early Arrest of Violent Crime Suspects
Commissioner Yoon Hee-geun of the National Police Agency visited the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency in Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do on the 1st and appointed investigators who apprehended suspects of major crimes to special promotions. Sergeant Kim Hee-jun of the Gyeongbuk Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit was recognized for his achievement in arresting nine members of the Cargo Solidarity Union executive who coerced the company into signing an agreement to reduce fees through threats, and was appointed to a special promotion.
Commissioner Yoon visited the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency’s Situation Management Department, which promptly cooperated and responded with full force to apprehend a murder suspect early, to encourage their efforts and awarded a commendation to Chief Superintendent Min Moon-gi, head of Situation Team 1.
After receiving a cooperation request from the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency on the 6th of last month regarding a murder suspect fleeing by vehicle in the Gyeongbuk area during late-night hours, the 112 Situation Room was praised for swift follow-up actions including vehicle alerts, emergency deployment, and on-site command by the police chief.
Following orders from the provincial police agency, Yeongcheon Police Station confirmed that the suspect abandoned the fleeing vehicle and took a taxi. They then identified a nearby motel, and after the entire detective team conducted inquiries at dozens of motels in the area, the suspect was apprehended early.
Commissioner Yoon urged, "When an emergency occurs, please protect the golden time as swiftly as in this case so that the public can enjoy peaceful daily life."
