Complete Optimal Fitting Club Through 10 Steps
Fitting is not an option but a necessity. When purchasing expensive golf clubs, you need to find the optimal combination that suits you. Golf equipment companies prepare the best fitters and fitting equipment to welcome customers. They are shaking the hearts of amateur golfers with differentiated fitting know-how. This is the world of fitting that each equipment company boasts. The first is Mizuno Golf’s iron fitting method.
Mizuno Golf recommends the best irons through its proprietary fitting analysis system, the Shaft Optimizer 3D Test.
Mizuno Golf is known as the ‘House of Irons.’ The globally steady-selling JPX series is representative. The directly operated fitting centers are located in Gangnam and Bundang. They operate five days a week, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fitting takes about 90 to 120 minutes. A professional fitter who has completed the MPF club fitting training course and obtained a license is stationed there.
There are a total of 10 steps. It is by appointment only. Before the fitting, a pre-interview is conducted. This is an ‘emotional fitting.’ In addition to basic data, the golfer’s perceived problems, current club issues, past history, and purpose of visit are checked. After the interview, warm-up follows. The golfer hits 20 to 30 balls with their most familiar existing club. Data is analyzed through a launch monitor. During the test, about 40 to 70 shots are made. Both the swing and data are checked.
The core of Mizuno Golf fitting is the Shaft Optimizer 3D Test. It is an independently developed fitting analysis system based on the swing analysis of 350,000 people. However, it extracts the customer’s DNA from just three swings. It checks swing speed and tempo, toe down, kick angle, release factor, and sectional speed.
The Shaft Optimizer 3D recommends five types of shafts. It is a process to find the shaft that produces the ideal shot group and data. The head shape is selected, considering size, offset, lie, loft, weight, center of gravity depth, and center of gravity distance. Based on the newly selected head shape and shaft model, an in-depth fitting is conducted. The length of the ideal club is found by measuring from the ground to the wrist. The grip size is chosen considering finger length and overall hand size.
Testing is done with the final specs. It is checked whether there are no further issues and whether the customer swings the club comfortably. If the customer is satisfied with the test club, they place an order. Detailed club assembly work is carried out by experts. Typically, it takes about 5 to 7 days.
