Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, is conducting a joint crackdown on illegal lodging activities with Ulleung Police Station and Ulleung 119 Safety Center until June 30.
This measure is to ensure that visitors to Ulleung during the peak season, such as summer vacations, can use lodging facilities comfortably and safely, as the number of tourists using accommodations is expected to increase.
Ulleung County, the police station, and the 119 Safety Center are jointly conducting crackdowns on illegal lodging businesses.
The main targets of the crackdown are unregistered lodging operations in facilities where lodging business is not permitted, such as apartments and detached houses; suspected unregistered businesses posted on blogs and online brokerage platforms; businesses registered as lodging but suspected of illegal extensions and illicit operations; and violations of related laws such as the Public Health Control Act and the Tourism Promotion Act. Strict measures will be taken against businesses caught on-site. Additionally, safety inspections, including checking the proper operation of fire safety equipment, will be conducted.
Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, stated, “We will do our best to create a clean lodging environment by actively cracking down on illegal lodging operations.”
