The Korea Transportation Safety Authority announced on the 31st that it will operate the ‘Advanced Special Purpose Vehicle Future Vehicle Transition Workforce Training Course’ starting next month.
This training course was prepared to promote education on overall safety inspection and certification tasks as small-scale manufacturers become capable of conducting direct safety inspections.
The Authority received approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to provide specialized training for manufacturers and secured local government budget this year through consultations with Jeollabuk-do Province and Gimje City.
To ensure the expertise of small-scale manufacturers, the Authority plans to provide systematic education on relevant laws and automobile safety standards to personnel responsible for conducting safety inspections and certification tasks.
Additionally, as the distribution of future vehicles such as electric vehicles equipped with advanced devices accelerates, the Authority aims to enhance the expertise of technical personnel in the special purpose vehicle industry across the entire cycle of design, manufacturing, repair, and maintenance through safety education on high-voltage devices in electric vehicles.
In particular, to establish strategic directions for special purpose vehicle manufacturers and secure technical personnel, the Authority will hold technical seminars to share global technology trends and promote consulting for overseas expansion linked with foreign governments.
Since 2017, the Authority has been building and operating the Special Purpose Vehicle Certification Center in Gimje, Jeollabuk-do, to facilitate certification for small-scale manufacturers.
On April 26, the Authority signed a ‘Advanced Special Purpose Vehicle Future Vehicle Transition Workforce Training Project Business Agreement’ with Gimje City and the Automotive Convergence Technology Institute to promote technical education for small-scale manufacturers.
Kwon Yong-bok, Chairman of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, said, “Based on the infrastructure possessed by the Automobile Safety Research Institute, an affiliated institution of the Authority, we will continue to expand the Authority’s capacity support for the growth of special purpose vehicle companies and the training of specialized personnel. As the government promotes the training of 10,000 convergence-type future vehicle specialists in machinery, electronics, and software by 2030, we will enhance the implementation of government policies and strive for the development of the special purpose vehicle industry and the revitalization of the regional economy.”
