Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is attending the AI Creative Group exhibition opening ceremony held at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office on the 30th and taking a commemorative photo with event officials.
Thirty artworks created by people with developmental disabilities using artificial intelligence (AI) were displayed at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office.
Gyeonggi Province announced that from May 30 to June 12, 30 works by the 'AI Creative Group' would be exhibited in the lobby on the first floor of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office.
The Gyeonggi AI Creative Group is a pilot project that provides art activity education using artificial intelligence to people with developmental disabilities pre-recruited by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation.
The two organizations recruited 15 people with intellectual and autism spectrum disabilities aged 10 to 30 from the province and conducted four sessions of AI-based art activity education starting April 8. The project was led by the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, with participation from the disability-specialized education organization Kimu Studio Co., Ltd., professional staff and artists from Suwon University College of Fine Arts, and art students, who acted as mediators to collaborate with the participants with developmental disabilities to complete the artworks.
In particular, on April 29, during the final education session, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon personally visited the site, participated in the creative activities, and encouraged the trainees.
After viewing the exhibited works at the provincial office, Governor Kim said, "Since Gyeonggi Province declared its intention to create a society where people with disabilities, including those with developmental disabilities, live together with non-disabled people, various projects have been undertaken, and today we are holding one such exhibition."
He continued, "I believe this is a small first step on the path toward making Gyeonggi a 'world where people live' characterized by inclusion, coexistence, and mutual care, where not only people with developmental disabilities but also people with disabilities, those in hardship, vulnerable groups, and the elderly all live together harmoniously."
He added, "Today's exhibition combines three elements: art, AI (artificial intelligence), and people with developmental disabilities. Artistic activities enrich our hearts and improve the quality of life for residents, and with the addition of cutting-edge AI technology, and with the participants being people with developmental disabilities, I am very pleased and proud."
