"Chinese Boy Jumps from 26th Floor 'Like a Parachute' with an Umbrella"

Reportedly Imitated a Scene from a Comic
Full-Body Fractures Sustained but No Threat to Life

A 4-year-old boy in China fell from the 26th floor of an apartment building holding only an umbrella.

According to local Chinese media, including the Maeil Business Newspaper (每日??新?), on the afternoon of the 26th, a 4-year-old boy in Zhishou, Hunan Province, fell from the 26th floor of an apartment while holding an umbrella.

The boy reportedly jumped using the umbrella as a parachute, imitating a scene from a cartoon.

After the fall, the boy suffered multiple fractures throughout his body and was transferred to the intensive care unit, but fortunately, his life is not in danger.

This was because the boy's light body weight, the umbrella he was holding slowed his falling speed, and he was cushioned by getting caught in a tree during the fall.

At the time of the accident, the boy's parents were working away from home, and the grandmother had briefly left to pick up the boy's older sister.

Netizens who heard the news of the accident responded with comments such as "He needs to learn that reality is different from cartoons" and "It was a very frightening situation."

Experts advise that to prevent child fall accidents, it is necessary to educate children in advance not to play near railings or balconies.

Placing furniture near windows is also dangerous, as children may climb on the furniture and increase the risk of falling.
