Various 'Flower Artworks' Exhibition
'Conveying Vitality Through Flowers'
The 14th Daegu Flower Show 2023, the largest indoor flower show in Korea, will be held at EXCO for three days from June 2 to 4.
This event, themed "The power of Flowers," is hosted by Daegu City and organized by EXCO, featuring floral works from 172 organizations, institutions, companies, and associations related to the floriculture industry.
This year, advance ticket sales increased by 25% compared to the previous year due to strong public interest, and the area of the exhibition halls composed of floral works also increased by 28%, solidifying its status as the largest indoor flower show in Korea.
Notably, this year’s Daegu Flower Show sees a significant participation of local governments. Ahead of the event, local governments nationwide, including Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province, local government booths from Gyeongbuk Province, Daegu Buk-gu Office, Dalseong-gun, Gyeongsan City in Gyeongbuk, and Cheongdo-gun, have confirmed their participation early and greatly expanded their booth sizes to set up promotional halls.
This is analyzed as an effort by local governments to effectively promote regional tourism in anticipation of increased event visitors and travel demand due to the recovery of daily life this year, and it is expected to provide even richer attractions.
The Daegu Flower Show presents a splendid feast of flowers through various exhibition halls such as the Theme Hall, Cheongrasang Hall, and General Exhibition Hall.
First, in the Theme Hall, where a large floral sculpture symbolizing the theme "The power of Flowers" will be displayed, the work titled "flowering MBTI" will be exhibited. In the Cheongrasang Hall, 10 carefully selected works competing for the grand prize will be showcased.
The range of participation fields has also diversified this year. New additions include an Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) exhibition, flower media art, a Bali-style relaxation garden, a flower tea exhibition, and the planterior (interior design using flowers) sector, which are expected to captivate visitors and offer healing experiences.
In the General Exhibition Hall, where various floral works such as flower arrangements, wildflowers, succulents, and pressed flowers are displayed, 30 organizations, institutions, and companies including the Seorabeol Flower Art Association and Goyang Flower Show will participate to exhibit diverse floral and horticultural works.
Additionally, the Corporate Hall (Flower Outlet) will provide opportunities to experience and purchase floriculture and interior-related products.
The Daegu Flower Show will captivate visitors with various experiential events and side events such as the Daegu Living Floriculture Design Competition, terrarium-making workshops, flower seed sowing and maintenance cultivation experience kit distribution, and mini concerts.
Especially at this exhibition, to nurture local young florists, a joint exhibition of works by young florists themed "The Power of K-Flower, Drawing the Dream of the Future Generation" and flower arrangement demonstrations by young florists will be held.
Along with this, 33 side events including 9 seminars and 15 experiential events are prepared to lead the expansion of floriculture culture.
Moreover, various performances and seminars will be held inside and outside the exhibition hall during the event period. At the Flower Mini Performance Hall inside the exhibition venue, performances by collaborative groups such as Heymish Band and Knuppy, as well as a Flower Drawing Show, will take place. At the EXCO seminar room, floriculture and horticulture-related seminars and information exchange network events such as "Easy and Fun Succulent Art" and "Cases of Healing Agriculture Activities Using Flowers" will be held.
Lee Sang-gil, CEO of EXCO, said, "We hope you feel the vitality that beautiful flowers bring at the Daegu Flower Show," adding, "We hope this will be an opportunity to deliver energy to local residents through flowers, and we will continue to hold such events to contribute to Daegu’s transformation into a cultural and artistic hub city."
